Groply AI is a study app: upload lecture notes, slides, or past papers and it turns them into flashcards, quizzes, and full practice tests, with a Q&A mode for asking follow-up questions about your own material. It's built for the week before an exam, when you have a pile of notes and no time to make your own study set. I co-founded it under Cache00 in Toronto.

We didn't have an ad budget, so we marketed it with TikTok slideshows. Instead of filmed videos, each post is a short stack of static slides, the kind students already scroll through: a relatable study problem on the first slide, a few slides showing notes turning into a quiz, and the app name at the end. Slideshows are fast to make, so we could post several variations a day, keep the ones that got saves and shares, and drop the rest. Nearly all of our early users came from that loop rather than from search or word of mouth.

On the product side, the hard part is generating questions that are actually about the student's material and not generic. Each upload is chunked and indexed so the model quotes and tests the specific content on the page, and every generated card or question links back to the passage it came from so students can check it. Practice tests mix question types and difficulty the way a real exam does, and the Q&A mode stays scoped to the uploaded notes so answers don't drift into things the course never covered.
